Earth trembled due to earthquake
Mild earthquake tremors have been felt in Mehsana in Gujarat and Mount Abu in Rajasthan. According to the information, earthquake tremors were felt at both these places at 10.15 pm. According to information received from the National Center for Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale.
As soon as the tremors of the earthquake were felt, there was panic among the people. However, due to the low intensity of the earthquake, there is no news of any loss of life or property. Let us tell you that earlier on November 10 also earthquake tremors were felt in Mount Abu. A situation of panic was seen in the area due to the earthquake that occurred at 7.51 am.
Why do earthquakes occur?
If we look at the reason behind earthquakes, the earth is mainly made up of four layers, which are called inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. The crust and upper mantle are called lithosphere. These are 50 kilometer thick layers, which are called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates keep moving, rotating and sliding from their place. These plates usually shift from their place by about 4-5 mm every year. They can move from their place both horizontally and vertically. In this sequence, sometimes one plate moves closer to the other plate and sometimes it moves away. During this time sometimes these plates collide with each other. Only in such circumstances an earthquake occurs and the earth shakes. These plates are about 30-50 km below the surface.
Earthquake center and intensity
The epicenter of an earthquake is the place just below which geological energy is released due to movement in the plates. Earthquake vibrations are felt more at this place. As the frequency of vibration increases, its effect decreases. The measure of its intensity is the Richter scale. If an earthquake of magnitude 7 or more occurs on the Richter scale, the tremors are felt within a radius of 40 km. But it also depends on whether the seismic frequency is upward or downward. If the frequency of vibration is upward then the area of effect is less. The deeper an earthquake occurs, the less its intensity is felt on the surface.
