New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate is going to take major action in the money laundering case related to the National Herald case. ED is now going to take possession of the first attached properties. For this, a notice has been issued by the ED. These notices have been pasted at Herald House at ITO in Delhi, campus in Bandra area of Mumbai and AJL Bhawan on Bisheshwar Nath Road in Lucknow. The price of these properties is Rs 661 crore which was attached in 2023 in the money laundering case against Congress controlled Associated Journal Limited (AJL).
The ED has taken this action under Section 8 and Rule 5 (1) of the Money Laundering Act. ED notice has also been sent to Jindal South West Projects Limited at Herald House in Mumbai. The notice states that every month the ED will have to deposit the rent. The matter came to notice after a complaint by Subramanian Swamy. He had alleged that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and his other Congressmen paid only 50 lakhs and captured AJL’s assets worth Rs 2000 crore. When the case was investigated, it was found that more than Rs 85 crore was made here and there through fake donations and advertisements.
According to the ED, AJL-Young Indian Network was used to raise illegal funds of Rs 18 crore, Rs 38 crore as advance rent and Rs 29 crore through advertisements. Let us tell you that the National Herald is published by AJL and is owned by Young Indian Private Limited. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are the biggest shareholders of Young Indian Private Limited. Both of them have 38-38 percent shares.
