Bengaluru. ED’s activity seems to be increasing in the alleged MUDA scam case of Karnataka. According to the information, ED on Monday interrogated Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law BM Mallikarjuna Swamy. Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law BM Mallikarjuna Swamy is among the accused in the Muda scam case. ED had recently summoned Mallikarjuna Swamy on Monday by sending a notice for questioning. Karnataka Lokayukta had earlier registered an FIR in the Muda scam case. Taking cognizance of this FIR, ED also registered a case under Money Laundering Act. ED has already visited the office of Mysuru Urban Development Authority i.e. MUDA and collected documents related to the case.
In the Muda land scam case, Karnataka Lokayukta has started investigation by making several people including CM Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvati Siddaramaiah, brother-in-law BM Mallikarjuna Swamy as accused. In this case, Lokayukta police had called Siddaramaiah for questioning on 6th November. Siddaramaiah had appealed in the Karnataka High Court against his name appearing in the Muda land scam case, but he did not get relief. Now with ED becoming active in this case, the problems of Siddaramaiah and his family may increase. Siddaramaiah, however, consistently claimed that there was no scam in Muda.
The case of Muda land scam is that Mallikarjuna Swamy had given 3.16 acres of land as a gift to sister Parvati Siddaramaiah. Muda took these lands and then gave away 14 expensive sites under the 50:50 scheme. All these sites were given by Muda in the third and fourth phase of Vijayanagar Layout. The price of the sites given is much higher than the land taken by Muda from Parvati Siddaramaiah. After being surrounded by this matter, Parvati Siddaramaiah recently offered to return all the 14 sites to Muda, but after the approval of the Governor, the Lokayukta registered a case and started investigation.
