New Delhi. Big news is from Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has raided 17 places in Jharkhand and West Bengal. It is being told that this ED raid has been conducted in the case of Bangladeshi infiltrators in both the states. The ED had registered a case in September 2024 at Bariatu police station on charges of money laundering related to illegal infiltration. The investigating agency had filed this case under money laundering in the case of infiltration and trafficking of Bangladeshi women in Jharkhand. ED alleges that money laundering was done through illegal infiltration and smuggling of Bangladeshi citizens. Illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi citizens remains a big issue in the Jharkhand assembly elections. There, voting will be held on 43 seats for the first round tomorrow. Even before this, ED has taken action in the illegal infiltration case.

Apart from Jharkhand, the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh always keeps politics hot in West Bengal also. BJP has been continuously alleging that the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal gives protection and government documents to illegally entered Bangladeshi citizens to create a vote bank. Mamata Banerjee’s government has been calling this allegation wrong. At the same time, the coalition government of JMM, Congress and RJD in Jharkhand has also denied the allegations of illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi citizens in the tribal dominated Santhal Pargana areas of the state.

BJP alleges that illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh are continuously settling in Santhal Pargana via West Bengal and the number of tribals there is decreasing. In the Jharkhand assembly elections, BJP has promised that if the government is formed, it will conduct NRC in the state and expel the infiltrators from Bangladesh. At the same time, the ruling coalition is asking the question that when the border security is under the BJP’s central government, then where did the infiltrators come from. It is also being asked from the ruling coalition that Jharkhand shares its border with which country and that infiltrators from Bangladesh came and settled there.
