The Election Commission said that mere recommendation to remove someone’s name from the voter list does not result in his name being removed. For this, there is a complete process according to which someone’s name is removed from the voter list only after verification. On the application to remove Anita Singh’s name from the New Delhi Voter List, the Election Commission said that an FIR has been lodged against the person who applied for removal of her name from the Voter List. The Election Commission said that the process of removing one’s name from the voter list starts with the filing of Form 7.
After this, in all such cases, verification is done by Booth Level Officer (BLO), BLO supervisors and other officers and only then action is taken in this regard.
