New Delhi. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accused of rigging the Maharashtra assembly elections held in 2024. On this, the Election Commission has dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and said that all elections have been done according to the law. In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, the Election Commission has said that any elections are held strictly according to the laws and rules passed by Parliament. The Election Commission also emphasized that thousands of employees are involved in the election process, including booth-level agents appointed by political parties.
The Election Commission said that the entire election process is conducted in a decentralized manner at the assembly constituency, including more than 1,00,186 booth level officers (BLOs), Election Registration Officer (ERO), general supervisor, police supervisor, expenditure supervisor and returning officer (ROS). Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi had demanded voter list, voting data and video footage from the Election Commission regarding the Maharashtra assembly elections. On the other hand, the Election Commission has directed its officials to destroy CCTV footage, webcasting and video footage after 45 days of the election.
Rahul Gandhi, while questioning this, accused the Election Commission of eradicating evidence. Rahul had said, ‘The one who needs the answer is erasing the same evidence.’ The Commission has said in its reply to Rahul that giving CCTV footage of the polling station will violate people’s privacy and doing so is also against the law. The Election Commission has also said that this footage can also be misused. Anti -social elements can put pressure on people about votes. This can only be given on the order of the court.
