Arrah: Municipal Corporation Mayor Indu Devi has formally requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to extend the elevated metro line from Bihta to Arrah. The initiative is part of the ongoing preparations to implement metro train service in Patna, with plans to connect it to Arrah. The proposed metro line will cover a distance of about 28 km and will have 14 stations along the route, providing better transportation facilities between these two places.
Approvals and financial structure
The urban development department is currently preparing a proposal to lay a metro line from Patna Bihta airport to Ara. The proposal will soon be presented for cabinet approval, after which it will be sent to the Union Urban Development Ministry.
The financial structure for the metro project will be as follows: 20% will be funded by the central government, 20% by the state government, and the remaining 60% will be raised as loans from various financial institutions. This loan will be coordinated by the newly formed Ara Metro Rail Corporation.
Effects on local development
The establishment of the metro line is expected to significantly boost the development of Arrah and its surrounding areas, which will also address the traffic congestion that comes with the growing population. The feasibility report and detailed project report (DPR) of the metro rail will be prepared by a designated agency after the cabinet approval. The initiative aims to improve transportation, education, health and tourism, giving a reliable transport option to a large number of passengers traveling between Patna and Arrah.
