New Delhi. Opposition parties continuously allege that unemployment has increased in the last 10 years during the Modi government at the Centre. Now a senior journalist has released the figures and said that the youth have got more employment during the Modi government than during the Congress-led UPA government. Journalist Pallavi Ghosh has posted on X that from 2004 to 2014, when the UPA government was at the helm, 2.9 crore additional jobs were created. He has said that during the Modi government from 2014 to 2024, 17.19 crore additional jobs were created. According to the data, in the last one year i.e. 2023-24 alone, Modi government created 4.6 crore jobs. According to the data, during the Congress-led UPA government, the increase in employment from 2004 to 2014 was 6 percent. Whereas, during the 10 years of Modi government’s rule, employment has increased at the rate of 36 percent.
Let us tell you that PM Narendra Modi had announced in 2024 that 10 lakh youth will be given government jobs. Out of this, till now PM Modi has handed over appointment letters to more than 8.5 crore youth in various employment fairs. Besides, employment in the private sector has also increased significantly during the Modi government. According to the Labor Ministry, the number of new members in EPFO in August 2024 had increased by 9.07 percent on an annual basis. This figure had reached 18.53 lakh. The Labor Ministry had said that EPFO added about 9.30 lakh new members in August 2024. Also, about 13.54 lakh members had exited EPFO. They also joined again. This figure is an increase of 14.03 percent on annual basis.
After the formation of Modi government in 2014, opposition parties have been continuously alleging that employment is ending. The opposition had alleged that there were no possibilities of new employment. Rahul Gandhi had even claimed that the Modi government was preparing to close an important defense institute like HAL, but nothing like this happened. Rather, HAL is continuously getting orders and is in profit. At present, the employment figures of UPA government versus Modi government seem to belie the claims of the opposition.
