New Delhi. After four months of peace, terrorism has again made its presence felt in the remote Bani hilly area of Jammu and Kashmir. An encounter started between security forces and terrorists in Nukanali, Dagar, Bani at around 3 pm on Sunday, which is still going on. About 100 rounds of firing have been done by both sides. However, the firing is going on intermittently in between. The terrorists are hiding taking advantage of the dense forests, due to which the encounter seems to be dragging on for a long time.
Terrorist activities continue despite election vigilance
In view of the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the DIG of Jammu Samba Kathua Police Range had visited this area in the last few days. He had instructed the local police to conduct special patrolling and be extra vigilant. The police formed under this order had gone on a special patrol when they encountered terrorists. Although no loss has been confirmed in the encounter, the situation remains serious.
Terrorist activities have increased in the last two weeks
According to sources, for the last two weeks, there were continuous reports of terrorist activities in the hills of Basantgarh and Doda adjacent to the Bani area. Recently, encounters also took place in Basantgarh and Doda, in which many terrorists were killed and many security personnel also sacrificed their lives. Due to this, the security forces were constantly alert and monitoring the area.

Terrorist movement seen in Nukanali
After Sunday afternoon, suddenly movement of 2-3 terrorists was seen in the Nukanali area of Dagar. After this, the security forces took action and opened fire, to which the terrorists also responded with bullets. This encounter is still going on and the situation in the area remains tense.
Terrorists were also seen in April
This is the same area where the presence of 6 terrorists was recorded at the end of April. At that time, the shepherds of the area had told that the terrorists had attacked their camp and killed and eaten their sheep. The next day too, the terrorists were seen in the same area, after which the army had increased vigilance in the area.
Inaccessible areas and dense forests pose a challenge
In this hilly and dense forest area, the conditions are favorable for the terrorists to hide. Due to the inaccessible hills and dense forest, the security forces are facing difficulty in catching them. The weather is also favorable for the terrorists to hide, due to which the encounter is getting prolonged.
