The Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched 18 places in Karnataka on Wednesday in connection with the “engineering seat blocking scam” in private engineering colleges in Bengaluru.
The ED’s Bengaluru office is conducting a search operation on the accused colleges, BMS College trustees and their main colleagues, offices and houses of some private education advisors and some seat blocking agents.
Agency officials said that the main accused in the case is Bhushaniana Mukunddas Srinivasaiya (BMS) College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology and New Horizon College of Engineering.
“These colleges and their colleagues are suspected of being involved in financial irregularities related to the seat allocation process.” In this case, seats were allegedly being blocked in private engineering colleges, which could be sold at premium probably later, which deprived the qualified candidates of proper entry opportunities.
