New Delhi. An FIR has been lodged against Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain. Satyendra Jain is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 7 crore. According to the Anti Corruption Bureau, Jain had taken a bribe of Rs 7 crore to waive a fine of Rs 16 crore imposed on the company in a CCTV project of Rs 571 crore while being a minister in the AAP government in Delhi. In 2019, a project to install 1.4 lakh CCTV cameras in all 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi was started.
The responsibility of completing the Rs 571 crore project was entrusted to Bharat Electronics Limited and its contractors. However, the project could not be completed on time and this work was late. After which the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi imposed a fine of Rs 16 crore on the BEL company and its contractors. Later, Satyendra Jain, who was a PWD minister, took a bribe of 7 crores to waive this fine. The ACB quoted the media report, after which he started the investigation after which he started the investigation.
Before registering an FIR against Satyendra Jain, ACB had to get approval under Section 17-A, POC Act. The anti -corruption team will now find out who other people are involved in this bribery case besides Satyendra Jain. At the same time, the ACB will also investigate whether the project was completed correctly or not and whether there was any other scam in it. Let us tell you that even before this, Satyendra Jain was arrested in the case of money laundering and had to stay in Tihar Jail for a long time, currently he is out on bail.
