The Mumbai Police on Monday filed an FIR against ‘Stand-up comedian’ Kunal Kamra for allegedly making derogatory remarks for Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during an event. Shiv Sena activists vandalized the ‘Habitat Comedy Club’ in Khar area in Mumbai on Sunday, where Kamra’s program was shot. In this program, he sarcasted Shinde through the word “traitor”.
‘Habitat Club’ is the same place where the dispute ‘India’s Got Latant’ was shot. Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel lodged a police complaint after the video of Kamra allegedly using derogatory words against Shinde went viral.
An FIR was lodged against Kamra in the early hours of Monday, an FIR was lodged under various sections of the Indian Code (BNS), including 353 (1) (B) (public expression statement) and 356 (2) (defamation), on the basis of the complaint. The official said that in a video of about two minutes, Kamra also made fun of the ruling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena.
He said that the investigation of the case is going on. Earlier, a large number of Shiv Sena activists gathered outside the ‘Hotel Unicinant’ on Sunday night, where the concerned club is located. He vandalized the club and hotel premises. This video was also shared by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut while sharing on the social media forum ‘X’, “Kunal Ka Amazing”.
Kamra took a sarcasm on Shinde using the revised version of a song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’. Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske warned Kamra that Shiv Sena workers across the country would follow him. He said in a video message, “You will be forced to escape from India.”
