New Delhi. A heart-wrenching incident came to light last Thursday in Amethi district of UP, where four people of the same family were shot dead. The deceased included teacher Sunil Kumar, his wife Poonam Bharti, 6-year-old daughter Drishti and 1-year-old daughter Suni. The police had arrested Chandan Verma, the main accused in this murder case, after which he was injured in the encounter and then sent to jail. But the biggest question is why did Chandan Verma take this dreadful step despite so many years of relationship? Amethi Police has now found the answer to this question in its investigation.
The real reason for the murder was hidden in the FIR of August 18.
Police investigation has revealed that the roots of this murder were hidden in the FIR registered on August 18. This FIR was lodged by Sunil Kumar’s wife Poonam Bharti against Chandan Verma in Rae Bareli police station. There was a deep friendship between Poonam and Chandan Verma for years, due to which they used to visit each other’s houses. This friendship gradually started becoming a cause of dispute between husband and wife. Being upset with this relationship, Sunil Kumar changed his house several times, but the confusion in the relationship did not end.
Cracks in relationships and slapping increased the distance
The incident of August 18 proved to be an important link in this massacre. That day Sunil Kumar had gone to Sumitra Hospital in Rae Bareli for the treatment of his ailing daughter. Poonam also called Chandan there to give his clarification. There was an argument between the two in the hospital, in which Poonam slapped Chandan. Chandan was so upset by this that he even hit Sunil Kumar and abused Poonam fiercely. After this incident, Poonam had lodged an FIR against Chandan.
Creepy murder plan
Chandan Verma was mentally disturbed after the FIR was registered. From 18 August to 3 October, the boil inside Chandan kept increasing. Finally, on the evening of October 3, he entered Shivratanganj area of Amethi and shot Sunil Kumar, Poonam and their two innocent daughters. After the incident, Chandan tried to shoot himself, but he escaped as the magazine got stuck.
Police included all the evidence in the investigation
Amethi Police has included the FIR registered on August 18 and the information received from the people present in the hospital in its investigation. The police are now trying to understand why Chandan Verma took such a terrible step despite so many years of friendship and relationship.
