New Delhi. The time of political change has come in Jammu and Kashmir, and the swearing-in ceremony of the new government of Jammu and Kashmir is going to take place on 16 October. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah will take oath as the next Chief Minister of the state. The ceremony has been scheduled at 11:30 am, which will be hosted by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Omar Abdullah has received an official invitation from the Lieutenant Governor’s office to form the government.
National Conference-Congress alliance wins
National Conference and Congress alliance won majority in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. After this victory, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has been elected the leader of the alliance. In view of the election results, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and independent MLAs had already announced their support to the Omar Abdullah-led government. On Sunday, October 13, President’s rule was lifted from Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the state. After this, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha scheduled the swearing-in ceremony on October 16.
Omar Abdullah invited to form government
Omar Abdullah shared this information through his social media account ‘X’ that he has received an invitation from the Lieutenant Governor’s office to form the government. He said, “I have received an invitation from the Lieutenant Governor’s office to form the government. This is an important opportunity, and I am grateful for it.”

The letter issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, “A letter sent by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on October 11 has been received, in which it was informed that Omar Abdullah has been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party. ” The letter further said, “Congress, CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party and independent MLAs have announced their support to the Omar Abdullah-led government. In this context, I am happy to invite you to form the government.”.
