Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia returned home on Tuesday after undergoing treatment for four months in London. This information was received from media news.
Jia went to London on January 8 for better medical care and was admitted to the ‘London Clinic’. After being discharged from the clinic, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) president went to her eldest son Tariq Rahman’s house.
‘Dhaka Tribune’ quoted BNP Media Cell member Sareul Kabir Khan as saying that Qatar’s royal air ambulance took place at Hazrat Shahzal International Airport at 10:42 am with Khalida and people who came with him.
His two daughters -in -law – Tariq Rahman’s wife Zubaida Rehman and late Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Saeeda Sharmila Rahman were with him.
The aircraft left from Heathro Airport in London at 4:20 pm local time. According to Khaleda Professor AZM Zahid Hussain, Tariq went to the airport and sent him off.
79 -year -old Khaleda, who has been a three -time Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has long been suffering from liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis.
Meanwhile, BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam along with several senior leaders of the Alamgir party arrived at the airport at around 8.30 am to receive Khaleda.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Fakhrul hoped that the return of party president Khaleda Zia would help in the restoration and progress of democracy in the country.
‘Dhaka Tribune’ quoted BNP leader as saying, “Khaleda, who had been a victim of fascist oppression for years, had gone abroad for treatment. He finally got proper medical care with the collapse of fascism. She is returning home today after about four months of treatment. It is a matter of great pleasure for us and people. ”
‘Bedinus 24’ said that preparations have been completed in Feroza, a residence in Gulshan, Khaleda.
Security has been tightened around the campus, members of the Police and Chairpersons Security Force (CSF) are stationed in the premises.
Supporters have been instructed to stay on the sidewalk, carrying flags of national flag and BNP and blocking the roads.
The report said that a large number of police, army, rapid action battalion, armed police battalion and Ansar members have been deployed on the roads and near the airport area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also issued a notice on Monday, which warned the traffic warnings in view of the possibility of increasing congestion in the Gulshan-Banai area due to the gathering of a huge crowd to welcome Khaleda.
In March, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh upheld a High Court verdict to acquit Zia in a corruption case. In this case, he was sentenced to seven years in jail by the subordinate court. Jia was convicted in the Jia Charitable Trust Corruption case by a Dhaka court in 2018.
