Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani merged with Panchatattva, funeral with state honors

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was cremated in Rajkot with full state honors on Sunday. Rupani died on Saturday at the age of 68. They were running unwell for some time.

He was cremated at the Ramnath Parada crematorium in Rajkot. During this time he was given the Gord of Honor and his body was wrapped in the tricolor. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia, Gujarat BJP chief CR. Many dignitaries including Patil, and senior leader Ganpat Vasava were present.

Vijay Rupani, who was an MLA from Rajkot West seat, served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021. He played an important role in Gujarat politics as a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep condolences on the death of Rupani. PM Modi described Rupani as “gentleman, visionary and dedicated leader to the public.

Rupani’s political life extended for more than three decades, in which he served in various positions of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, corporator, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP organization. There is a wave of mourning in Gujarat politics due to his death.
