Former Prime Minister and founder of Janata Dal (Secular) HD Deve Gowda has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appreciating his leadership and the action of the government amid the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. He has said that the country’s military response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack has been “mature”. He said that the country’s military response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack has been “mature”. “I am writing you with deep appreciation after India’s mature and restrained military reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack on May 7, 2025. I know that there is loneliness at the top, and I also know that the balance and equilibrium of decisions without spiritual understanding, deep thinking and constant prayer is not easy. You have demonstrated in the last few days.”
Deve Gowda praised the Prime Minister for ending his visit to Saudi Arabia and returning to India to prevent his prescribed international visits to be available for emergency and to keep an eye on the situation. Describing Prime Minister Modi’s leadership as “exemplary”, Deve Gowda said that the last few weeks have been demanding a ‘religion’ against ‘unrighteous’ terrorism for India.
In the letter, Deve Gowda writes, “I pray that God stay with you and our great nation, because we are fighting this war of religion against the iniquity of terrorism. India is a peace -loving nation and has always spread positive light in the world, but if someone sees it as our weakness, then he has now come to know what we are able to do.” This letter has come at a time when India and Pakistan are face to face against each other after destroying terrorist camps at nine places in the neighboring country under Operation Sindoor launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
