Ghaziabad. Police have arrested 4 people named Ashu, Polus Masih, Pastor Rasi and Chutto Kumar Shah on charges of forced conversion in Ghaziabad, UP. According to the police, among the arrested accused, Ashu is a resident of Salarpur village in Noida. He became a Christian after his father’s death. It is alleged that Ashu first started pressurizing his uncle and aunt living in Govindpuri, Modinagar to become Christians. His uncle and aunt continued to oppose this. This increased the tension in the family and discord started. After this, Ashu’s uncle Ajit and aunt Sangeeta complained about their nephew in Modinagar police station. He has alleged that Ashu threatened to kill him if he did not become a Christian. Police have seized the mobile phone of another accused Polus Masih. It is being ascertained whether they have any connection with foreign organizations carrying out conversions or not.
In UP, CM Yogi Adityanath has passed a law against forced conversion. Under this, action has already been taken at many places. Allahabad High Court had also recently refused to grant bail to a person, taking a strict stance against forced or luring conversion. In many rural areas of UP, there have already been cases of religious conversion through luring or threatening. Now this case has come to light in Modinagar, Ghaziabad. Such attempts at religious conversion have been taking place in many other places in the country also. Hindu organizations continuously allege that foreign religious organizations provide financial help for conversions.
