Gangster Chhota Rajan Gets Big Relief In Murder Case: In the 2001 murder case of hotelier Jaya Shetty, the special MCOCA court of Mumbai had convicted Chhota Rajan of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment this year. However, Chhota Rajan will not be able to come out of Tihar jail yet. Many other criminal cases are still pending against him due to which he will have to remain in jail.

New Delhi. Gangster Chhota Rajan has today got a big relief in a murder related case. Along with granting bail to Chhota Rajan in the 2001 murder case of hotelier Jaya Shetty, the Bombay High Court has also suspended his life sentence. This year, the special MCOCA court of Mumbai had convicted Chhota Rajan of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The Bombay High Court bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Prithviraj Chavan has granted bail to Rajan on a bond of Rs 1 lakh and also quashed the sentence. However, Chhota Rajan will not be able to come out of jail yet. Many other criminal cases are still pending against him due to which he will have to remain in jail.

Chhota Rajan is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail No. 2. This is a high security cell of the jail. Jaya Shetty was the owner of the Golden Crown Hotel located in Gamdevi, central Mumbai. He was continuously receiving threats of illegal extortion from Chhota Rajan gang. After this he was provided police protection. However, later his security was withdrawn on the request of Jaya Shetty. A few days later, in 2001, Jaya Shetty was shot dead by Chhota Rajan’s henchmen in her own hotel, Golden Crown.

After the case continued for 23 years, Mumbai’s special MCOCA court judge M.M. Patil had sentenced Rajan to life imprisonment this year. Rajan had challenged the sentencing decision in the Bombay High Court through his lawyer. Chhota Rajan was arrested in Indonesia and brought to India in October 2015. Chhota Rajan, once a close confidant of Don Dawood Ibrahim, is now one of his biggest enemies.
