New Delhi. There has been a major accident in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Due to the explosion of glacier here, 57 laborers engaged in road construction were buried in snow. Relief and rescue operations continue at the scene. 10 laborers have been saved safely, 47 others are searching. The accident occurred near Mana, located near Badrinath Dham. Teams of NDRF and SDRF are also reaching the spot. District administration and police officers are also present on the spot.
Badrinath Dham is getting snowfall around and due to which snow is frozen on the way. Near Mana, three kilometers ahead of Dham, 57 laborers of private contractor were working to remove snow from the road when the glacier burst there. All these laborers were also living there. At present, the information about the laborers could not be found where they were from. Chamoli DM Sandeep Tiwari said that the highway is closed ahead of Hanuman Chatti. The team of Army and ITBP is engaged in rescue operation as well as officers have been asked to stay on alert. At the same time, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken cognizance of the Chamoli accident.
