Good news to the devotees coming on winter pilgrimage to Chardham
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a big announcement on Tuesday saying that the devotees coming on winter pilgrimage to Chardham will be given 25 percent fare discount on staying in hotels of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN). Chief Minister Dhami directed the officials to ensure all necessary arrangements for winter travel destinations and to promote the yatra on a large scale.
Discounts will be given in GMVN hotels
The Chief Minister informed about the 25% discount given in GMVN hotels for the devotees visiting the winter pilgrimage sites of Chardhams – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Along with this, he also stressed on the development of major sites around the winter migration destinations, which include the places of Panch Badri and Panch Kedar.
Every year in October-November in Uttarakhand, the doors of Chardhams are closed and the deities are taken to their winter migration places. Doli of Mother Ganga is installed in Mukhba from Gangotri temple, Mother Yamuna is installed in Kharsali from Yamunotri temple, Lord Kedarnath is installed in Omkareshwar temple of Ukhimath, and Lord Badrinath is installed in Narasimha temple of Joshimath.
Objective to provide better facilities
Chief Minister Dhami had started the winter pilgrimage to Chardham from Omkareshwar temple on Sunday. This year also, the state government has taken this step with the aim of providing better facilities to the devotees for the winter yatra, so that the devotees can stay in a more convenient and economical manner during the yatra.
