The Ministry of Minority Affairs said on Tuesday that the Saudi government has reopened the Haj portal for 10,000 Indian pilgrims. 10,000 pilgrims of India can apply to go to Haj. The ministry said that Saudi Arabia has agreed to reopen the Hajj portal for the United Haj Group Operators (CHGO). The ministry said that the Saudi government has issued immediate instructions to the CHGO to complete its process without any delay.
Portal opened after the Government of India’s assassination
After the intervention of the Government of India, the Saudi Haj Ministry has agreed to reopen the Haj (NUSUK) portal to call 10,000 pilgrims. The development has come to light at a time when a report by the Times of India said that about 52,000 Indian Haj pilgrims cannot go this time, as Saudi Arabia has canceled areas in Meena that were allocated to private tour operators earlier.
This year 1.75 lakh people can go from India
According to the government’s 2025 Haj policy, 70 percent of the total Haj pilgrims allotted to India will be managed by the Indian Haj Committee, while the remaining quota will be allotted to the private Haj group organizers. The ministry said that India has allocated a quota of 1,75,025 (1.75 lakh) for 2025 to India by Saudi Arabia.
People of Government of India went to Jeddah
Last week, Chandrashekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, along with Joint Secretary CPS Bakshi, went to Jeddah to review the ongoing Haj preparations for Indian pilgrims. Union Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju visited Saudi Arabia from 11 January to 14 January.
Bilateral meeting was held between the two countries
There was a significant discussion regarding the preparations for Haj pilgrimage in this journey. This included the bilateral agreement for the Haj 2025, attending the Hajj and Umrah Sammelan and the inaugural session of the exhibition and bilateral meetings with Saudi dignitaries.
Haj pilgrimage can be done between these dates this year
This year Haj is expected to be between June 4 to June 9 in 2025, which will depend on the appearance of the moon. The last month of the Islamic calendar indicates the onset of the cil-hukening.
