New Delhi. The prices of many everyday things including toothpaste, toothbrush can be reduced. The central government is considering abolishing 12 per cent GST tax slab with the aim of giving relief to the common man from inflation. If this happens, the prices of items that come in this tax slab can reduce the prices. NDTV has stated on the basis of sources that the government is prominently considering two options. The first is that the goods kept in the 12 per cent GST tax slab should be brought to the tax slab of 5 per cent. Second, the slab of 12 per cent should be completely eliminated.
If the government takes this decision, then it is expected to cost a financial burden of 40 to 50 thousand crores. But according to the Center, due to low GST rates, the consumption of items which will reduce the price will increase, this will increase the revenue in the coming time. In this way, the additional financial burden on the government will be reduced. However, there are some states that are opposing the central government’s move. The states of Punjab, Kerala and West Bengal say that this proposal of the Central Government will adversely affect their revenue, so they are not in favor of implementing the decision. According to media reports, this is the reason why there is a delay in implementing it.
