New Delhi. The disease named Guillen Barry Syndrome is now slowly spreading in Maharashtra. In Pune alone, the number of people suffering from Guillain Barrie Syndrome has reached 101. While 16 patients are on ventilator in different hospitals, there is also news of death of one patient. However, no official confirmation has been made yet regarding the death of the patient. Considering the expensive treatment of Guillain-Barre Syndrome and the seriousness of the situation, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has announced to provide free treatment to the patients suffering from it. For this, he has also identified different hospitals where patients will get free treatment.
What is Guillain Barrie Syndrome?
Guillain-Barré syndrome is a type of autoimmune neurological disorder, in which the immune system of the person suffering from it damages his own nerves. In this, there is tingling and weakness in hands and legs and there is difficulty in walking. The patient suffering from this may also have problem in breathing. Many times the patient suffering from this becomes paralyzed.
Guillain Barrie Syndrome Prevention
Guillain-Barré syndrome is caused by bacteria such as Campylobacter jejuni. Dirty water and contaminated food help in the spread of this bacteria. Therefore, cleanliness in food items is very important to avoid this.
Former President of America also died of the same disease
Former US President Franklin D Roosevelt also suffered from the same disease due to which he died. Roosevelt was paralyzed due to Guillain-Barré syndrome and lost the function of his lower body. Although initially the cause of his death was said to be polio, but after research it came to light that the cause of his death was Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
