Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met members of the adolescent family members of the victims of the Air India aircraft accident at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Monday. The family members of the deceased’s family are camping in the hospital to know the results of the DNA test and take the dead body for the funeral.
The Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the authorities to ensure smooth DNA verification to identify the victims and to hand over their body in a respectable manner. Patel inquired about the injured undergoing treatment in the hospital and asked the officials to provide them with appropriate medical facilities.
An official release said that the Chief Minister held a meeting with ministers and senior officials of the state to review the complete relief and rescue operations launched after the accident four days ago.
On June 12, Air India’s aircraft going from Ahmedabad to London crashed in a medical college campus shortly after flying from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here, in which a total of 241 passengers and crew members and 29 people on the ground were killed.
Patel later said in a post on ‘X’, “visited the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad and met the bereaved families. Expressed his deep condolences to him. The families assured that all possible help is being given in this hour of grief. ”
He said that the work of DNA sampling and matching in the hospital is being done rapidly in the hospital to identify those who lost their lives in the accident and hand over their bodies to their families. He said, “He interacted with the medical team and visited the verification room to hand over the bodies in a respectable manner. DNA sampling and matching work is being done rapidly and carefully. ”
The Chief Minister said, “I presided over a review meeting to evaluate the steps being taken with ministers and senior officials. Instructed them to ensure timely medical care, handing over the body in a respectable manner and to ensure smooth DNA verification to help every affected family. ”
After the plane crash, the Gujarat Health Department and the Civil Hospital administration are working round the clock to provide treatment, DNA mapping and hand over the remains of the body to the families concerned.
The release said that during the hospital visit, the Chief Minister inspected the verification room set up in D2 block and consoled the families of the patients undergoing treatment. Patel was informed about the entire process of DNA sample mapping.
Officials said 99 dead have been identified through DNA Milan till Monday afternoon.
