In Gurugram, 25-year-old state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father Deepak Yadav. This heart-wrenching incident took place on Thursday, 10 July 2025 at Sushant Lok Phase-2, Sector 57 at his residence between 10:30 am and noon. According to the police, Deepak Yadav fired five bullets from his license .32 bore revolver, three of which were hit by Radhika. He was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition, but died during treatment.
Initial investigation is believed to be the cause of murder. According to some reports, Deepak was angry with his daughter’s habit of making Instagram reels, which he considered to be his addiction. Apart from this, the father’s objection was also about Radhika’s running tennis academy and the relationship he selected. The police is currently investigating the matter in depth, and family statements are being recorded to find out the exact reason. Deepak Yadav has been arrested, and a revolver used in the murder has been recovered. The case has been registered at Sector 56 police station.
Radhika Yadav was an emerging player in the tennis circuit in Haryana. Her ITF Women’s Doubles ranking was 113 as of 4 November 2024, and she was fifth in Haryana’s Women’s Doubles rankings. His former coach Manoj Bhardwaj described him as a talented and disciplined player, whose murder he called him a big loss for Indian tennis. Radhika participated in many national and international tournaments and was known for her agility and sportsmanship.
