In Jharkhand, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department and State Food Safety Commissioner has issued a ban notification on gutkha and paan masala. The notification states that ban on gutkha and paan masala, Section 30 (2) (A) of the 2006 Act on Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Reference and Reference on Sales) Regulation 2011 under Sections 2, 3 and 4 of Regulation 2011 has been applied. The notification of the Government of Jharkhand states that strict action will be taken if any shop is found to be sold in any shop with gutkha and tobacco or nicotine.
