Voting for all 90 assembly seats in Haryana will now be held on October 5. Notification will be issued on September 5. September 12 has been declared as the last date for filing nominations. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on September 13 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be September 16. According to the Election Commission’s press release, the Bishnoi community had requested to extend the date of voting. In fact, the people of the Bishnoi community have been celebrating Asoj Amavasya in memory of their guru Jambeshwar for centuries. This time this festival will be held on October 2. To participate in this festival, thousands of Bishnoi families living in various districts of Haryana will go to Rajasthan, due to which they could have been deprived of voting on October 1.
Let us tell you that earlier BJP and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) had also written a letter to the Election Commission demanding to postpone the date of Haryana Assembly elections. The reason given behind this was that 28 and 29 September are weekends i.e. Saturday and Sunday. Due to the holiday on 1 October due to elections and Gandhi Jayanti holiday on 2 October, many people may plan to travel, which may reduce the voting percentage.
