Tamil Nadu BJP President’s Annamalai
A new controversy has arisen between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and DMK (Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam) amid language controversy. BJP state president K.K. Annamalai on Tuesday alleged that the ministers of the DMK -led state government enjoy the people of North India a lot in “down showing”. Annamalai has posted an alleged video clip on the social media platform ‘X’, in which Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister of Tamil Nadu is seen making controversial statements about migrant workers in the northern states.
What was in the video?
In the video clip, the minister is allegedly asking, “Where are those who read Hindi? They are raising cattle in my house; this is true and I am not joking.” After this, the minister said that people from North India are engaged in works like construction work and carpentry in Tamil Nadu and also mentioned the sale of water. Anumbarson allegedly said, “If we study Hindi, we will also have to go to North India and eat water completely.”
This video is being reported from the time when Anrabanson was addressing the DMK party program in a suburb in Chennai. However, the veracity of the video has not yet been confirmed and the date of the program is also not clear.
Annamalai’s charge
Posting this video, Annamalai has made a scathing attack on the DMK. He alleged that forgetting our Tamil values and culture, ministers of DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) enjoy down to degrade our brothers and sisters of North India.
He also accused the DMK of intoxicating the youth population through uncontrolled sales of alcohol in the state and easy access to narcotics. Annamalai said that the contribution of the workers of North India is important in fulfilling the state’s labor deficit and the DMK should be ashamed to insult them.
Statement on language and education policy
BJP leader Annamalai also linked the dispute to the National Education Policy (NEP) -2020. He said that like the previous education policies released by the Congress party, the aim of NEP-2020 is not to promote Hindi, but it is about promoting all Indian languages, which has emphasized the mother tongue (Tamil) as a medium of education. Annamalai said that under this policy, students of government schools have been given the opportunity to learn third language and foreign languages at secondary level. (input language)
