Haridwar
A heart-wrenching incident took place in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Two minor children of a family from Gujarat died due to drowning in the Ganga river here. Police said that the accident took place at Santmat Ghat in Saptarishi area of North Haridwar at 10 am. The tears of the family members are not stopping after the accident.
Brother and sister washed away while bathing
The family of Vipul Bhai Pawar, resident of Bajipura village in Tapi district of Gujarat, was taking bath in the Ganga. Meanwhile, Pawar’s 13-year-old daughter Pratyusha and six-year-old son Darsh suddenly started flowing in the strong current of Ganga. The family members and other devotees present at the ghat ran to save the children but due to the strong current and deep water, both the children were lost from sight.
A mountain of sorrow fell on the family
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started searching for the children with the help of water police and divers. After some time, both of them were taken out of the water near Thokar number 13 in an unconscious state. Police said that both of them were immediately taken to Haridwar District Hospital where doctors declared both of them dead. The bodies of the children have been kept safe for post-mortem. After the incident, a mountain of sorrow has fallen on the family. The untimely death of the children also saddened the other devotees present at the ghat. (with language inputs)
