Visibility reached zero as dense fog descended on Delhi on Wednesday morning and the minimum temperature dropped drastically to 7.4 degrees Celsius. India Meteorological Department (IMD) office gave this information.
“Visibility was recorded at 50 meters at Palam at 12 midnight,” IMD said. Visibility improved to 500 meters at 2:30 in the night, but dropped drastically to zero at 5:30 in the morning. The wind blew at a speed of five to seven kilometers per hour throughout the night.
According to IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi today was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees above normal, whereas a day earlier on Tuesday it was 10.5 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature in Delhi on Wednesday is likely to be around 16 degrees Celsius.
According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the capital’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 334 at 9 am, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to An AQI between 500 and 500 is considered ‘severe’.
