Some parts of Mumbai received heavy rains late on Saturday night and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rains at some places in the city and suburbs on Sunday. Municipal body officials gave this information.
IMD has released a ‘Yellow Alert’ for Mumbai, warning of heavy rains at some places. At the same time, ‘Orange Alert’ has been released for neighboring district Thane, Raigad and Palghar, where excessive rainfall is likely.
Some parts of Mumbai received overnight thunderstorms and rains with lightning. However, by morning the intensity of rain decreased. Officials said that there is no information of much waterlogging anywhere in the city.
According to municipal bodies, till 8 am on Sunday morning, 31 mm in South Mumbai, 21 mm in the eastern suburb and 20 mm in western suburbs recorded 20 mm rainfall.
Waves may arise up to 4.27 meters in the sea at 2.52 pm on Sunday, while waves up to 1.91 meters at 8.55 pm are likely to arise.
Officials said waves up to 3.55 meters at 2.37 minutes on Monday night and a low level waves of 1.06 meters at 8.20 am.
