Bengaluru: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh i.e. Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosbale of RSS has given a special interview to Vikrama, the famous weekly magazine of Karnataka on the occasion of the centenary year of the Sangh. The interview was taken for the special version of Vikrama Weekly ‘Sangh Shataman’ on the occasion of Yugadi, which depicts a 100 -year journey of the Sangh. In this intense conversation that lasted for about 2.5 hours, Hosabale discussed in detail the start of the Sangh from Ramesh Doddapura, the editor of Vikrama, its contribution in the society, the revival, caste and future plans. We are telling you about some main parts of this interview.
What is the secret of branch’s success?
Describing the branch as the backbone of the Sangh, Dattatreya Hosbale said that this system was started for personality building about 100 years ago. He told that if there is a branch in a village or city, then understand that the Sangh is present there. The founder of the Sangh, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, took part in the freedom movement and laid the foundation of the branch with his experiences. Hosbale said, ‘The branch is a completely open and simple activity, which is one hour daily in public places. There is no secret in this, but it is not easy to run it. For this, the dedication to join daily for years should be dedicated without the desire of discipline and without fruit. Some organizations tried to copy the branch, but they did not succeed without selflessness and sacrifice. Referring to a popular Sangh song, Hosbale said, “Pure satvik love is the basis of its work.” He said that this spirit is the reason for keeping the branch strong for a century.
Inspiration and origin of campaigner system
On the campaigner system, Hosbale said that its exact source is not known, but it seems affected by the Indian tradition. He said that for thousands of years in our country, saints and sages have been dedicating their lives to society and religion. Even in the freedom movement, many youths leaving private ambitions and sacrificed everything for the country. Dr. Hedgewar himself came from such an environment. Hosbale mentioned the concept of ‘Mahant’ brought by Samarth Ramdas in Maharashtra, which is similar to the preacher life. He said, “Though Dr. Hedgewar did not adopt it clearly, it is possible to inspire its inspiration due to starting the Sangh in Maharashtra.” He himself was the first preacher to give an example of dedicating life to society. His foresight was that a branch could be started in any corner of India and campaigners could emerge.
Dr. Hedgewar’s personality and his thinking
Hosbale described Dr. Hedgewar as a true visionary, which is called ‘Seer’ in English. He said, ‘They could see the future and understood the challenges to come. He loved simplicity and never wanted his fame. Since he was involved in revolutionary activities, he did not have the habit of writing his work. He said that once a writer wanted to write his biography, he flatly refused. Hosbale said, “The organization was everything for him, and he used to dedicate his contribution to the mission of the Sangh.” During his birth centenary in 1989, most of the people in the country saw his picture for the first time, otherwise people knew the Sangh, but there was very little information about its founder.
Union’s unity and attitude on caste
On the unity of the Sangh, Hosbale said that deep brotherhood and mutual respect between volunteers never let it break. He told, ‘All discussions are open in the Sangh, and after the decision, everyone follows it. There is no place for personal ambition or reputation here. External forces tried to weaken the Sangh, but this strong fort remained firm. On the question of caste, he said that people of every tradition, sect and caste are included in the Sangh, but caste is never talked about. He said, ‘The first learning is that we are all Hindus. The Sangh promotes Hindu unity rather than confrontation to eliminate caste. There is a discipline in the Sangh that its workers should not actively involve caste-based organizations. As a result, RSS volunteers do not hold leadership positions in any caste-based group. ‘
‘There is no plan to celebrate even on the centenary’
In response to a question in a special interview, Hosbale said that Dr. Hedgewar did not want the Sangh to celebrate its anniversary. He said, “Therefore there was no celebration on 25, 50 or 75 years.” There is no plan of celebration even on the centenary. Reverse Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat suggested in a meeting that this is the time of self -consciousness. Hosbale said, ‘We should think why the target is not met yet. Nevertheless, with the renunciation of volunteers and the cooperation of society, there is confidence in Hindu society, which is proud. But the work is also regretting being incomplete. On this occasion, the Sangh is planning to make its work more effective.
Thinking of unbroken India and punch change
Hosabale said on the unbroken India that this is not just a question of geographical unity. He said, “We believe that the people of this country, no matter what their religious practices are, are one.” Akhand Bharat Sankalp Divas is still celebrated today, and the Sangh’s attitude on it did not change. But if Hindu society will not be strong and organized, then nothing will happen only with things. He described the punch change as part of Hindutva, which is associated with life. He said, ‘Hindutva is not just a temple, cow or article 370. This shows the Hindu tradition of adopting changes over time. ‘ Explain that the RSS has started 5 public awareness initiatives which have been named Panch Parivartan, these are: Kutumb Prabodhan, Swadeshi, Complex Protection, Social Samarsi, and Citizen Etiquette.
Message to youth and volunteers
At the end of the conversation, Hosbale appealed to volunteers and youth, ‘We should all work to increase the dignity of the country. Every citizen should think what their contribution will be. It is necessary to give some time for this. A strong and rich India should be a light not just for itself, but to remove the darkness of the world. Volunteers should increase this movement with their energy and talent. Small differences should be forgotten and good forces of the society should be brought along.
