A helicopter crashed near the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand on Sunday morning, killing all the seven people on board.
Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar told PTI that the accident occurred over the forests of Gaurikund amid low visibility due to bad weather.
The dead include six pilgrims and pilots. The helicopter took off from Kedarnath to Guptkashi at around 5:30 am and crashed shortly after.
Sources said that the helicopter of Aryan Aviation Private Limited crashed between Gaurikund and Trijuginarayan in Kedarghati and caught fire.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a post on X that a helicopter has crashed and the state disaster response force and other agencies are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
The incident took place a few days ago after an Air India flight crashed in London in Ahmedabad, killing 241 people, and many others were on land.
Earlier on May 8, a helicopter going to Gangotri Dham crashed in Uttarkashi district in which six people died.
On June 7, a helicopter going to Kedarnath had to make an emergency landing on the road immediately after flying due to technical fault, injuring the pilot, but five devotees aboard it were rescued safely.
