Helpline issued for Indians who expire visa in UAE. Amnesty started from today, you can return without any fine

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government’s two-month visa amnesty scheme has started from September 1. Under the scheme, people who are living illegally in the country will get a chance to either regularise their residency status or leave the country without any penalty.

Indian Embassy advice

The Consulate General of India (CGI) has issued an advisory for those who want to avail the benefits of this new scheme:

Applicants wishing to return to India: They can apply for Emergency Certificate (EC). Those who wish to regularize their residence status can apply for Short Validity Passport. Application for Emergency Certificate: Applicants can apply for EC free of cost at the Consulate. For this, facilitation counters will be set up at the Indian Consulate in Dubai and Avir Immigration Center, Dubai. This counter at the Consulate will function from 2 September 2024 from 08:00 am to 06:00 pm.

Time to collect EC: ECs can be collected from the Indian Consulate in Dubai between 02:00 PM and 04:00 PM on the next day of application. Application for Short Validity Passport: Applicants can visit any BLS centre in Dubai and Northern Emirates as a walk-in. No prior appointment is required. Information on BLS centres is available here: BLS Center Details

Operation of BLS Centres: BLS Centres in Dubai and Northern Emirates will be open every Sunday from 09:00am to 05:00pm during the amnesty period to serve applicants availing the scheme.
