High Court Bar Association meets CJI, Justice Yashwant Verma requested to withdraw transfer

The presidents of the High Court Bar Association met Chief Justice of Supreme Court Sanjeev Khanna to discuss the issue of Justice Yashwant Verma.

A statement said that the presidents of the Bar Association of the High Court met the Chief Justice and the collegium and requested to withdraw the transfer of Justice Yashwant Verma and withdraw all administrative work except judicial work, which had already been withdrawn on Thursday.

A joint statement by the Bar Association of the High Court said, “The Bar Association requests the Chief Justice and the collegium to withdraw the transfer of Justice Yashwant Verma and withdraw all administrative work except the already withdrawn judicial works.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Police officials were stationed inside the residence of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma. On March 14, after the fire incident at his residence, a huge amount of cash was allegedly recovered there.

Acting on the instructions of the Inquiry Commission, the police secured the fire affected area. The police also recorded videos. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Devesh Kumar Mahala was seen leaving the house, while the investigation of the cause of the fire was going on.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court on Monday issued an official update of its supplementary suit list, which announced the immediate withdrawal from Justice Yashwant Verma to the immediate information. Justice Verma got caught in a significant dispute after a fire incident at his residence on March 14, 2025, in which a huge amount of cash was found.

However, Justice Verma strongly denied the allegations, saying that neither he nor his family is the owner of cash. They have also described it as a conspiracy hatched in deliberately hatched for the purpose of trapping them.

The Supreme Court Collegium on Monday recommended the transfer of Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court to his original court, Allahabad High Court.

The collegium’s proposal stated, “In its meetings held on 20 and 24 March 2025, it recommended to be sent back to the Allahabad High Court of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Verma.”

The Allahabad High Court Bar Association objected to the Supreme Court collegium’s decision to move Justice Verma to Allahabad High Court.

Talking to ANI, Anil Tiwari, President of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, demanded that all the decisions given by Justice Verma during their tenure to restore public confidence in the judicial process should be reviewed and suggested that the judges should be under strict supervision of the Supreme Court.

He said, “The Chief Justice has been requested that Justice Yashwant Verma should not be transferred to the Allahabad High Court or any other court, as no court is a place to dump garbage. They should stay in Delhi under strict supervision of the Supreme Court till the proceedings are completed. The second request is that the Judges Varma should review all the decisions during their families as a judge and the public should review all the decisions during their families. They should be investigated for. “

The Chairman of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association said, “Third, we have requested the CJI to allow CBI and ED to register an FIR and formal inquiry … We have also raised the issue of Uncle Judge Syndrome. The concept is that the judges who are practicing in a particular court should not live in that court. Should go. “
