Padma awards announced
The Padma Awards, the country’s highest civilian honour, are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day. Like every year, this time too celebrities will be honored with Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honors in the country. Today, after the announcement of the names of the winners, the Padma Award is given to the winners by the President of India Draupadi Murmu in the honor ceremonies organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the month of March or April. Padma awards are given in three categories, which include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

There are three categories of awards
Padma Award is given to special people who have done special work in various fields like arts, social service, public work, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service etc. Padma awards are divided into three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padmashree. Padma Vibhushan is given for exceptional and distinguished service. Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order and Padmashree award is given for distinguished service.
There are guidelines for the winners
According to the Home Ministry, Padma awards are not considered a title, so winners cannot use it before or behind their names.
With these awards, the winners are not given any cash prize, allowance or any facility like concession in rail-air travel.
Padma Awardees are given a certificate and medal bearing the signature and seal of the President.
Award winners also receive a replica of their medal, which they can wear at any function.
