Shimla. There is news of widespread support for the Himachal Pradesh bandh called by Hindu Jagran Manch and VHP. Hindu organizations had called for a 3-hour bandh till 1:30 pm in the Sanjauli Mosque dispute. During the bandh, markets in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla and other places remained completely closed. At many places, activists of Hindu organizations also protested against the lathicharge by the police.

The Hindu community has united against the illegal construction in Shimla’s Sanjauli Mosque. On September 11, Hindu organizations and local people of Shimla protested on a large scale and demanded the demolition of the illegal construction of Sanjauli Mosque. During this, the crowd broke the police barricades. Hindu organizations have accused the police of first using water cannon and then lathi-charge. Due to which many people got injured, Hindu organizations and people have accused the police. At the same time, the police allege that the protesters pelted stones to march towards Sanjauli Mosque and many policemen were injured.

The matter of illegal construction in Sanjauli mosque is in court. This matter has been heard 44 times. It is alleged that while the matter was going on in the court, the Sanjauli mosque committee built 5 floors. Himachal Pradesh Congress government minister Anirudh Singh also raised the matter of Sanjauli mosque in the assembly. He also alleged that outsiders are taking over the business and doing love jihad. Anirudh Singh also alleged that the mosque in Sanjauli has been built by illegally occupying government land. At the same time, the Waqf Board has said that the mosque is on its land. After the protest by the Hindu community, the Sanjauli mosque committee has also proposed to demolish the illegal construction. Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu also held an all-party meeting on Friday regarding the Sanjauli mosque dispute. At the same time, state minister Vikramaditya Singh had earlier said that if there has been illegal construction in Sanjauli mosque, it will be demolished.
