New Delhi. With an aim to further strengthen the internal and strategic security of the country, the Home Ministry has approved two new battalions with more than 2,000 personnel for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). With this decision the total strength of the force will reach approximately 2 lakh personnel. This decision will not only increase the operational efficiency of CISF but will also take national security to new heights.
National security will get new strength
CISF spokesperson informed on Tuesday that the Home Ministry has approved the creation of two new battalions. The spokesperson said, “This step will prove to be a milestone in the expansion of CISF. “The formation of new battalions will strengthen internal security and improve the security of national installations.”
Employing more than 2,000 people
This step will create employment opportunities for more than 2,000 youth. The spokesperson said that this approval was given on Monday. The addition of new battalions will create a pool of newly trained personnel for the CISF, which can meet the internal security needs of the country in emergency situations.
Women battalion will also be part of the force
A women’s battalion was also approved in CISF late last year. CISF currently has 12 reserve battalions, each manned by 1,025 personnel. The formation of the new battalion along with the women battalion will improve the efficiency of the force.
Security of 68 airports and major destinations
CISF is not only responsible for the security of 68 civil airports but also protects the nuclear and aerospace sector establishments of the country. Apart from this, providing anti-terrorism security to historical sites like Taj Mahal and Red Fort is also an important function of CISF.
