New Delhi. The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification regarding the census to be held in the country. As such, the date of census has been fixed on 1 March 2027. But the census will be started on 1 October 2026 in icy mountain areas like Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In view of the weather, the government has decided to conduct a census first in the mountainous areas. In this way, the census work will be completed in two phases across the country. This time the special thing is that along with census, caste census will also be held. Meaning this time, during the census, everyone will be asked his caste.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, General Registrar and Census Commissioner Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan and other senior officials on Sunday a day earlier. The next day of this meeting, the government also issued a notification. This time 1.3 lakh officers will be involved in the census work. The entire census process will be completed in about 21 months. In the country, census is done every 10 years, but this time it is going to happen after 15 years. Earlier in the year 2011, the census was conducted, but due to Kovid, the census program could not be held in 2021.
After caste census, it will be cleared which assembly and which Lok Sabha constituency, which caste people live. In this way, the figure of caste voters will also be revealed after the census. After this, delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly seats will also be started. Based on the 2011 census, 543 seats were fixed in the country in the Lok Sabha. According to the constitution, there should be at least 60 and more than 500 seats in the assembly of any state.
