New Delhi. The central government has now raised its eyebrows towards all the NGOs. The Union Home Ministry is now preparing for strict action. The Home Ministry has issued a notice for NGOs on its website on Monday. The Home Ministry has said that the FCRA license of any NGO which conducts anti-development activity, religious conversion or protests with malicious intent will be cancelled. The Home Ministry has said that action will also be taken against such NGOs which have links with terrorist and fundamentalist groups.
The Home Ministry has also put those NGOs under the ambit of action, whose receipt of donations from abroad may affect religious and social harmony. The central government will now take action against NGOs engaged in forced conversions. The Home Ministry has made it clear that action will be taken against those NGOs which do not use foreign donations as per the target and those which do not file annual returns. The Home Ministry’s notice also mentions action against NGOs that have not been working in the last two-three years.
According to the notice of the Home Ministry, action will also be taken against such NGOs which do not give the sought clarification. Also, if a case is registered against any officer or member in this matter, the Home Ministry will take action against the NGO. FCRA license of all such NGOs will be cancelled. FCRA stands for Foreign Contribution Regulatory Act. Without its license, no NGO can take donations from abroad. FCRA license is given by the Home Ministry only. During the tenure of Modi government, the Home Ministry had taken similar action against many NGOs. Along with the cancellation of his FCRA license, he was also banned from working in India. In the year 2016 alone, FCRA licenses of 20 thousand NGOs were cancelled. International NGOs like Amnesty International also had to come under the influence of action and their work in India was stopped.
