Mahakumbh Nagar: The Uttar Pradesh government is busy in preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. In this series, cameras equipped with AI will be installed for accurate counting of devotees coming to Mahakumbh. The government issued a statement saying that till now there was no accurate technology to count the exact number of devotees in the Kumbh held every 6 years in Prayagraj or the Maha Kumbh held every 12 years. However, this time the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to take the help of special cameras equipped with AI as well as many other types of technologies, so that every devotee coming to the Mahakumbh can be counted.

‘Special arrangements have been made to keep an eye on people’

Let us tell you that the government has also made arrangements to track the devotees in Mahakumbh through these technologies. Giving information about this, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant said that more than 40 crore people are likely to attend the Mahakumbh to be held in 2025, and this will be the biggest record till date. According to Pant, special arrangements have been made to count and keep an eye on such a large number of people. He said that to keep an eye on the devotees, 744 temporary CCTV cameras are being installed at 200 places inside the fair area, while 1107 permanent CCTV cameras have been installed at 268 places inside Prayagraj city.

‘Counting large number of devotees is a big challenge’

Divisional Commissioner said that apart from this, 720 CCTV cameras have been installed at more than 100 parking spots. Pant said that apart from the Integrated Command and Control Center i.e. ICCC and Police Line Control Room, observation centers have also been made in Arail and Jhunsi areas, from where efforts are being made to monitor the devotees. Divisional Commissioner said that counting such a large number of devotees is a big challenge, but the use of AI will be very important in this. He told, ‘AI equipped cameras will update the data every minute to count the devotees coming to Maha Kumbh. The entire focus will be on the devotees coming to the ghat.
