BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said prominent junior doctors are on hunger strike demanding safe working conditions in West Bengal government-run hospitals following the rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. One of them, Aniket Mahato, has been admitted to the hospital due to ill health. When Mamata Banerjee met him, he agreed to her demands. But, as expected, she regretted it and did nothing after that.

The hunger strike of junior doctors at Dornia crossing has now entered the seventh day, the BJP leader said. Everyone in West Bengal is very concerned about the health of Aniket Mahato and other protesting junior doctors. He has been at the forefront of the movement demanding justice for the RG Kar rape and murder victim. I wish Aniket Mahato a speedy recovery and sincerely hope that Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will look at the situation compassionately, so that the junior doctor ends his fast and resumes work. She will be solely responsible for any untoward incident involving junior doctors.
