Shashi Tharoor
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Tuesday that opposing India’s attitude after the Russia-Ukraine war has proved to be a shameful for him. Also, he said that due to the policy adopted by the government, the country is now in a position where it can play a role for permanent peace. He also said that under the policy adopted by India, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi can embrace both Russia Vladimir Putin of Russia and Volodimir Gelnsky, President of Ukraine.
Tharoor criticized India’s stance
Let us know that when Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, Tharoor criticized India’s stance and called for condemning the aggression of Moscow’s move. In the ‘Raisina Dialogue’, the former Minister of State for External Affairs said, “I am still trying to end embarrassment because during the parliamentary discussion I criticized India’s stand in February 2022.”
What did you say about PM Modi?
The Lok Sabha member from Thiruvananthapuram said that his criticism was on the basis that the United Nations Charter was violated, the principle related to the encroachment of boundaries was violated, a member of Ukraine was violated by the sovereignty of the state and India has always been opposed to the use of force to settle international disputes. He said, “All those principles were violated by one side and we should have condemned it.” Well, after three years, it seems that I feel embarrassed because this policy means that there is actually a Prime Minister in India who can embrace both the President of Ukraine and the President of Moscow Russia at two weeks intervals and both places are acceptable.
