Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has suspended all agreements with Turkish universities after Turkey supported Turkey amid growing tension with India.
In a post on its official X handle, the institute said, “Due to the current geopolitical status related to Turkey, IIT Bombay is considering suspending its agreements with Turkish universities until the next notice.”
The institute currently has a faculty exchange program with some Turkish institutions.
The development has come to light after the support given by Türkiye to Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and then the struggle with India.
Earlier, IIT Roorkee formally canceled a memorandum with Inonu University in Turkey.
IIT Roorkee posted on X, “The institute is committed to promoting global cooperation that reflects its educational priorities and maintains national interest.”
Private institutions like Chandigarh University have also abolished their educational cooperation with 23 Turkey and Azerbaijani universities for supporting Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
