All 90 seats of Haryana were discussed in the CEC meeting.

New Delhi: The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday brainstormed on the names of candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president JP Nadda and other members of the Central Election Committee i.e. CEC attended this important meeting. Haryana election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and co-in-charge Biplab Deb, state in-charge Satish Poonia, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, state president Mohanlal Badauli and other senior leaders were also present in this important meeting.

The core group meeting was held at Nadda’s residence

According to sources, all 90 seats of Haryana were discussed in the meeting and names have also been finalised for 55 seats. Let us tell you that earlier a core group meeting was held at Nadda’s residence, in which apart from Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister Saini and Badauli were also present. Pradhan held a meeting with Haryana BJP leaders at his residence. After the BJP core group meeting, senior party leader and former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that the party’s central team was apprised of the political scenario of the state.

BJP suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha elections

Anil Vij said, ‘Our party is a democratic party. Now the Central Election Committee will take the final decision (on potential candidates for the assembly elections).’ Let us tell you that voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 1. Counting of votes will be held on October 4. At present, there is a BJP government in Haryana. Its challenge is to retain its power in the state. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, due to the unity of opposition votes in the state, the number of BJP seats decreased to 5 and the remaining seats went to the account of Congress.

BJP had won 40 seats in the 2019 elections

Let us tell you that in the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won all the 10 seats in the state. In the last assembly elections, BJP had won the maximum 40 seats while Congress became the main opposition party by winning 31 seats. Jannayak Janata Party i.e. JJP was successful in winning 10 seats. 7 seats were won by independents, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won one seat and Haryana Lokhit Party won one seat. Later, BJP formed a coalition government with JJP.

A tough fight is expected between BJP and Congress

After the elections, Manohar Lal Khattar again became the Chief Minister of the state while Dushyant Chautala of JJP became the Deputy Chief Minister. However, this alliance broke after disagreement over seat sharing in the Lok Sabha elections. Later, BJP saved its government with the support of independent MLAs. After a few days, BJP removed Khattar from the post of Chief Minister and handed over the command of the state to Naib Singh Saini. Now in these elections, BJP is in the field on its own and it is believed that it will have a tough competition with Congress. (With PTI inputs)
