Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday alleged that the Central Government is trying to eliminate it by cutting the allocation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), which is a crime against the Constitution.
Citing the news, he claimed that the Modi government has now fixed the limit of MNREGA spending for the first 6 months of the year.
Kharge posted on ‘X’, “The Modi government is trying to suffer the life-line of the poor by torturing the MNREGA. The Modi government has now fixed the range of MNREGA spending for the first 6 months of the year 60 percent. MNREGA which ensures legal right to work under the Constitution, cutting into it is a crime against the Constitution. ”
He questioned, “Is the Modi government doing this only because it wants to snatch around Rs 25,000 crore from the pockets of the poor, which every year, by the end of the year, has to spend separately in the next financial year when the demand is high?”
Kharge said that MNREGA is a demand -based scheme, so what will happen if the demand increases during the first half in disasters or adverse weather conditions? Will implementing such a limit not harm those poor who depend on MNREGA for their livelihood? ”
He said, “What will happen when the border is crossed?” Will the state be forced to refuse to provide employment despite demand, or workers will have to work without timely payment?
The Congress President questioned whether it is not true that according to a recent report, only 7 percent of the families have got 100 days of promised work?
Kharge asked, “Why were about 7 crore registered workers were out of MNREGA by making Aadhaar -based payment condition?” In 10 years, why was the MNREGA budget allotted the least allotment in the entire budget? Why is the poor anti -Modi government, MNREGA, why are you down on the oppression of laborers? ”
He emphasized this, “The ax to stop spending on MNREGA, the life of every poor is deeply shocked by the Modi government. The Congress party will strongly oppose it. ‘
The Congress president urged, “A minimum wage of Rs 400 should be fixed for MNREGA workers daily. Second, get at least 150 days of work in a year. ”
