A girl was raped and killed in Karnataka

A sensational case of rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl has come to light in Karnataka’s Bidar city. The accused raped the victim and then killed her by hitting her with a stone. Police have arrested three people in this case, while protests were held in the city demanding justice for the victim.

The victim went missing on August 29

According to the police, the victim went missing on August 29 and her body was found in bushes near a government primary school in Gunathirthavadi on September 1. The police had initially registered a case of murder but based on the post-mortem report and the statement of the accused, it was changed to a case of rape and murder.

death due to stone hitting head

The post-mortem report revealed that the victim had suffered a fatal injury after being hit by a stone on her head. One of the three accused committed the rape and murder while the other two, who are friends of the accused, waited in the vehicle while the crime was committed. Meanwhile, hundreds of angry people carrying banners and placards took to the streets of Bidar to protest against the rape and murder. The massive protest also led to a blockade of roads in the city.

Minister called it a devilish act

Meanwhile, Karnataka government’s Forest Minister and local MLA, Ishwar Khandere, met the victim’s family today and called the crime “the most diabolical act”. Ishwar Khandere wrote that the murder of a young girl from Gunatirthwadi village in Basavakalyan taluka has deeply disturbed all of us. Today, I visited her house and expressed my condolences to her family. This is a heinous crime, and I pray for the peace of the victim’s soul and give her family the strength to bear the pain of her loss.

Rs 4 lakh help given to the family

The girl’s family is poor and I have personally provided financial help to support them in this difficult time. Also, I have instructed the officials to provide a cheque of Rs 4 lakh from the government by this afternoon and I assure you that more relief and necessary assistance will be provided in the next phases.

As soon as the matter came to my notice, I contacted the District Superintendent of Police and urged him to take the matter with utmost seriousness and arrest the culprits as soon as possible so that they get severe punishment. The police have succeeded in arresting the accused and I have instructed them to take action so that the culprits get the harshest punishment under the law.

What did the police say?

Meanwhile, SP Bidar Pradeep Gunte said in the case that “We have arrested three accused in connection with this incident, the main accused is from the same village while the other two accused are from the nearby village, the process of sending them to jail is being done, the special team formed under the leadership of DySP succeeded in arresting all three accused, further investigation is also being done under his leadership, the victim was a Dalit, hence a case has also been registered under SC/ST Atrocity Act.”
