42 old people were rescued from an “illegal” old age home from Noida when the police raided there and found that some women were tied there, many residents were without clothes and others were in the rooms like “basement”.
Police officials said that the condition of old age home was found to be extremely bad during the raid on Thursday in the presence of members of Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission and State Welfare Department.
Meenakshi Bharala, a member of the Women’s Commission, said that Anand Niketan Old Age Seva Ashram was an illegal old age home in Sector 55, C-5 of Noida.
He said, “An elderly woman was found tied up during the raid, while other elderly people were locked in rooms like the basement.”
Bharala said that some men did not even have clothes, while many elderly women were found in half-finished clothes.
He said, “This old age home is completely illegal. 42 elderly people were living in the ashram, out of which three elders will be transferred to the old age home run by the Social Welfare Department on Friday and the rest will be transferred to other old age homes approved by the government in the next five days.”
Bharala said that the old age home will be sealed with the help of administration.
