Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, while targeting the opposition in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, said that he should not make misleading statements about the recruitment in the railways. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in the last 10 years, five lakh people have been given employment in the railway. Vaishnav said that Railways and Defense are two such departments, which should not have politics because it is the need, spinal cord and lifeline of the country. He said that if politics is done in them, it will not be good for the country.
Process of one lakh recruitments
Participating in the discussion held in the upper house on the functioning of the Ministry of Railways, Vaishnav said that the opposition is alleging that the Railways did not recruit. Describing this allegation of the opposition as “beyond truth and misleading”, he said that in the last 10 years, 5 lakh people have been given employment in the railway. He said that apart from this, the process is going on for one lakh recruitments. He said that the recruitment process is going on with complete transparency in the railway.
12 lakh employees are doing work in railway right now
Vaishnav said that there are about 12 lakh employees in the railway, out of which about 40 percent are appointed in the last 10 years. He said that in this way most of the railway work capacity is young. Describing the stampede at New Delhi railway station during the Mahakumbh Mela, he said that all the data related to the incident, including CCTV footage, are safe and a high -level committee is investigating it.
Poor people can travel from railway- Vaishnav
He said that after learning from this incident, the Railways have taken various precautionary steps. He said that the government is committed to providing facilities to low and middle income classes. He said that rich people can also travel by planes or cars, but laborers and poor people can travel from railways only.
Number of non-vocal coaches being increased
On the opposition’s charge of decreasing the number of general coaches in trains, he said that this government works with the spirit of Antyodaya. He said that in view of the common people, the number of non-vocal coaches is being increased and the number of non-vastly and air-conditioned coaches is currently in the ratio of 70:30. He said that 17 thousand non-vocal coaches are being prepared.
Kavach is being installed in 10 thousand engines
Describing the armor project being set up for the safety of trains as complex and huge networks, he said that it is being installed in 10,000 engines. He said that it will be implemented across the country in the next five-six years. In terms of statements of members of opposition -ruled states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Vaishnav sought cooperation from the respective state governments to complete various projects, which are delayed for various reasons.
